WHERE IS THE SEED? is a participatory artistic activation by the collective Landra — composed of Sara Rodriguesand Rodrigo Camacho — taking place at the Mobile Seedbed, an architectural installation designed by LIMIT Architecture Studio, located in the urban garden of Quinta da Armada, Braga.

Working between art and science, Landra investigates permaculture, soil microbiology, and agroecology, developing projects that combine video, performance and public space interventions. Through a practice rooted in forms of art-life, they promote more conscious and regenerative relationships with the ecosystems we inhabit.

This intervention for the FORMA DA VIZINHANÇA festival focuses on the study of local soil, the seeds that germinate there, and their potential to pollinate other landscapes across the city. Starting from the garden at Quinta da Armada, Landra invites a critical reflection on the current state of food sovereignty, exploring the processes of selecting, preserving and sharing seeds — once in the hands of farmers and gardeners, now largely controlled by institutional and industrial powers.

On 1 October, from 17:30 to 19:30, an open workshop will take place, sharing practical knowledge around seed production and conservation. [ Registration required ]

On 4 October, from 09:00 to 14:00, the Mobile Seedbed leaves the garden and moves through the streets of Braga, in a public morning action that shares and spreads the workshop’s outcomes — a collective gesture of ecological activation and urban engagement. The route will be announced shortly before the event.

This activation will take place in Quinta da Armada urban garden
where LIMIT Architecture Studio’s architectural installation is implanted.

LANDRA

Landra is the name Sara Rodrigues and Rodrigo Camacho give to the land where they live, and it is also how they are known as an artistic duo. Through the landras (acorns), they pay homage to a culture of autonomy, sovereignty, and self-sufficiency which they seek to reclaim. In addition to being a developing agroforest, Landra is also a space for experimenting with agroecological food production methods and art-life practices. Sara and Rodrigo began working together in 2015, starting out from Goldsmiths, University of London. Their projects span video and audiovisual composition, performance, installation, and public space intervention. Alongside their artistic careers, they have trained in permaculture and soil microbiology, researching and applying this knowledge through projects that bridge art and science.
